With my book being a bunch of short stories, I was never sure how the book might end. The short stories were all so different, and mostly about some event that happened in my author’s life. I would say the author views their life as a well lived one with many experiences and memories. He is very open to share his stories, as they are books, and he wants people to enjoy the stories he has. He wants people to read and learn from what he did in the past. The emotional response I had with the book was intrigued, or interested. I was so interested in what would happen to David in each of his short stories. They were all good, and left me wondering, how is it that he did some of the stuff he did.

“The greatest gift an author can have is a tortured childhood.” For my book, Me Talk Pretty One Day this memoir has its up and downs. The author uses short stories to retell experiences he has had, some are good memories and others are bad. So I would say that it depends on which story, and when it reflects his tortured childhood. For example, one of his first struggles in life was when he was very young and in elementary school. He had a lisp and was not able to say “S” words right, the teacher did not like this and some students laughed at him. At first he was sad and negative towards his problem, but after working with a speech therapist he was able to control his problem. He would just find ways around those pesky “S” words. He became skilled at doing so that people forgot or didn’t know he even had a lisp. I would say the book is very interesting and it is a good read, because it is short stories. The chapters aren’t that lengthy and we get to read many different stories throughout the whole story. Honesty I have no clue how this memoir will end, because I don’t know which short story he will use!

If I was to write a memoir about myself the one story that would have to be in it would be the time I chose a high school. In my eighth grade year at my middle school there was no high school after that. So I was faced with a tough decision of where I want to go next, I guess it felt like I do now that I’m thinking of which college I want to attend next fall. I have heard that which college you choose is one of the biggest decisions a young adult can make for themselves, and that no one else should tell you where to go. I looked at a few schools and it really came down to one decision. The question I needed to answer was, do I want to go to a private school or a big public school with no friends. In my class of 13 in middle school I was already used to small private schools, so I chose to go to a private school still. Eight students in my graduating class went to the school Gahanna Christian Academy. Now that I knew I would for sure have friends in my next step in life I was sold on this school. I quickly came to realize the school was small enough and I was good enough that I would be able to play the three varsity sports I wanted to play. Those three sports are Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. After I made it a done deal that I was going to school there, I had to wait till the first day of school. I admit I was very unsure of what to expect from the school, but I am very happy that I made this choice. I have really enjoyed my past four years at that school and it has helped me build friendships that will last a lifetime and my relationship with God.
